Double-clears for all at Aston!

5/5 double clears and 4 placings was not a bad effort for Ellie Fredericks and the LFE young horses at Aston le Walls Horse Trials!

Pure Trendsetter and Ellie went first with a good, confident last run in the Open Intermediate before Bicton CCI-L YR3* to finish 3rd in a hot section behind Piggy March and Jonelle Price.

Friday saw a very early start and slightly stressful but enjoyable day with two mares, a stallion and a gelding on board. We played musical horses in, out and around the lorry but with the help of super working pupils Grace and Siriol it all ran very smoothly.

I was very pleased with Headley Britannia’s three grandchildren going beautifully and little project Kalico having her first official run this year. 5 year old Upsi Britannia enjoyed his first Novice event. He was a little spicy around the flower pots in the dressage arena, but he skipped round the jumping bravely yet sensibly with a double-clear to finish 9th.

Upper Class Brit, also 5 years old, was stunning in the BE100 with a double clear to finish 4th, and it was fabulous to see 6 year old stallion Britannia’s Bijou going very confidently around the course for a double clear to finish just outside the top 10 in his section. We received many compliments on how immaculately behaved he was. He was rewarded with an early trip to stud the next day!

Project horse Kalico also had a super run with Ellie to finish 5th in her BE100 section – a fantastic result for her first event this season.

Thank you to Nigel Taylor and the team at Aston for doing such a great job producing good educational courses, and for making sensible decisions on XC course changes. We really appreciated their thought and effort.

Thank you to working pupils Grace and Siriol who worked brilliantly together and to Henry and Georgia for keeping things going at home.
