And we’re off…
Tweseldown was a fantastic first event of the 2024 eventing season for the LFE team.
The first day was with Ellie and new horse Legende P (Leo) in his first Intermediate run. We were delighted with him and learnt quite a lot. We probably did too much warm up before the dressage, but he did a nice test for 32, he had one pole early on in the SJ (due to rider error) but then a super clear XC saw him achieve his qualification. He now goes on with Ellie to Cirencester Open Intermediate u21 and then to his first 3* at Thoresby.
On Sunday Ellie was riding Lucy Thompson’s stallion, Penine View Silver Concorde in the Open Novice. Their first event together and they did a good test for 28 followed by just the last pole down SJ and then a lovely clear XC. This pair head for the Intermediate at Cirencester next.
Canadian resident pupil Poppy had a really lovely run on her own mare Lulu in the Novice and they too will go to Cirencester and then Thoresby 2*.
The newly designed courses, by Andy Heffernan, were absolutely fantastic so it was a real privilege to be able to take another 4 horses back there on Monday. Rachel Faulkner and her team produced a brilliant weekend at Tweseldown – an event that is always close to my heart, having first competed there myself 44 years ago aged 14 in the Novice on Miss Emma Lou!
