Fantastic Farley!
I am so proud of Ellie and the 5 horses we took to Farley Hall last weekend. We had 3 BE100’s on Friday – Willemina’s Nicolai who did a wonderful double-clear in his first 100.
Poppy’s BWE Balou Touch did her first BE100 with a slightly spicy dressage followed by a super double-clear and then Upper Class Brit, our homebred by Upsilon out of Little Britannia, did her third double-clear at BE100 to be placed.
They were all a bit spicy in the dressage as we had been on holiday for a week, so they were slightly fresh and slightly fat, but the boys & girls at home had done a very good job while we were away.
We had an early start on Sat, and an unhelpful road closure meant that Ellie only had 15 minutes to warm up and was then asked to go in 10 minutes early! However, project horse Kalico rose to the occasion in her first Novice and was totally immaculate. She has such a good brain it didn’t matter. She made one little mistake in the dressage, followed by a foot-perfect double-clear to finish 5th. She is snaffled-mouthed, easy and has a lovely brain. It was a tougher Novice course this year – a bit more upbeat than normal – so we were really pleased with her.
Last but not least Upsi Britannia (who had to have a lunge as he was full of beans as usual!), produced yet another double-clear in his second Novice. We are thrilled with our two homebreds and our project horse Kalico who was amazing in her first Novice.
It was a great event, super courses and the ground was good considering the weather we’ve had. There were a lot of social activities in between times, so we’re all a bit tired this week! We head off to Chepstow on Saturday with BWE Balou Touch doing another BE100 and Upsi Britannia and Kalico doing the Novice, and then on Sunday we look forward to the Hannah Francis charity event at Nunney where project mare Teke will do her second 90 along with Nicolai.
