A SUPER ASTON AND A WIN AT PONTISPOOL!

Upsi Britannia at Aston

Aston Le Walls HT was a success for the LFE team and I am particularly delighted for homebred Upsi Britannia, who completed another steady double clear with a presentable dressage test round the Intermediate with Ellie Fredericks.

Ellie then stepped on to the stunning Silver Belle for Alice Whiting who is busy doing her GCSE’s, giving her a really confident run before Alice gets back on after exams.

Four of my Working Pupils all happily completed their Novice runs, with special mention to Mimi Jones and Winnie de Fontenel finishing in the top 10.

Nigel and the team at Aston did a fabulous job keeping the ground conditions as good as could be given this long dry spell, and we were obviously thoroughly spoilt with the beautiful arenas for dressage and SJ.

To end the week we took five horses to Pontispool HT The Cotswold Cup event, two of whom were doing their first events. It was a wonderful surprise for Ellie’s new horse, Agent WW (Hector), to go and win his first ever event in the 90 on his dressage score of 27 – a wonderful start to Ellie’s partnership with our long-standing friend and supporter Liz Hills, with whom Hector is owned.

Working Pupil Lorna Murphy completed her first event with Britannia’s Pleasure (Issy) in the 90. They did a super test and a clear SJ with Lorna, but Issy just didn’t like the gully in the water XC.

Ellie placed on A Level student Eve Stamper’s Hera’s Nightingale (Hallie), giving her a quick pop round the 90 before Eve has her first run on her this season at Barbury. She then took our gorgeous 4 year old Savannah UK (Savvie) in the 80 for a lovely 26 dressage and a clear SJ. However, Savvie was one of the many horses in the 80 that wasn’t keen to go into the dark tunnel down to the water. We were very grateful to the organisers who kindly let us school her at the end of the day, leaving our young horse able to go home having sweet dreams of jumping into the water in future! Thank you Pontispool & Cotswold Cup.

Last but definitely not least was our favourite pony, Prince, who gave Lily Jones the most fun in their one event together. They had a cracking clear XC and came back with big smiles on their faces!
