A win for Britannia’s Mail youngster at Barbury!

Legende P at Upton House Horse Trials

Last week saw us eventing for four days on the trot again at two different venues, but it was a really good, educational week.

At Upton Legende P (Leo) ran in the Intermediate with Ellie, where they had a much improved dressage and a clear XC to finish 7th. He thought the SJ was a bit boring, having previously jumped round a 1.40m track, so we now know to be a bit careful not to jump him too high!

Pure Trendsetter and Ellie had a lovely, easy double clear in the Intermediate. Combined with a great session with Caroline Moore at Vale View earlier this week, this has helped the pair re-gain their confidence and they are now looking forward to stepping up to the Advanced at Aston this weekend.

We were delighted with Sally Johnson’s Diarado’s Daughter, who did her third double clear in the Novice with Ellie. They are now preparing for the CCI-2* at Burgham. And resident rider Poppy von Maltzahm was thrilled to go clear XC in her first Intermediate on her beloved MHF Lady (Lulu).

Then it was off to Barbury – our favourite ever event – with all the young livery horses.

Ellie did a miraculous job, riding four horses of all different shapes and sizes from 15h – 17.2h, and different ages and levels – not forgetting a single dressage test and achieving a good result on all of them.

Working Pupil Sophie Bragge did brilliantly on Ballyanihan Lad to finish on his dressage score for 8th place. But the star of the two days was Britannia’s Mail’s offspring Hanky Britannia, owned by Megan Pocock, who won the 100 with Ellie with a stunning test for 26.8.

Well done team!
