A win at Bicton to end the season

Daisy wins at Bicton

After what, at times, has felt like quite a difficult season for many reasons it is such a delight to end the 2024 season on a high at Bicton. I am so proud of Ellie who expertly piloted Upper Class Brit to a double clear inside the time to finish on their dressage score with a win in the CCI-2*L. Following closely behind, Sally Johnson’s Britannia’s Olive & Ellie also went brilliantly to finish in 6th place.

It is an extraordinarily special achievement for these two 6yr old mares for whom it was their first 2*L, as they are both homebreds from the Headley Britannia line – granddaughters of Brit no less. Ellie has produced them thoughtfully throughout the season, carefully bringing them up the levels. These results are testament to her hard work and we can’t wait to see what they can achieve next season. They will both be exciting mares to watch!

Of course achieving such super results is a huge team effort. Thanks must go to the team at home – Sophie, Lily & Mimi – and to Head Groom Liv who turned both girls out so beautifully each day, as well as helping my pupil Sarah Ulph with Ozzy.

And a massive thank you to our incredible team of sponsors – Dodson & Horrell, Devoucoux, Husk, Toggi, Salute Equestrian & Gatehouse hats – all of whom have equipped us and our horses in order to perform at our very best. We couldn’t do it without you.

Bicton has been a super event, as usual, with interesting and educational courses, friendly and helpful volunteers and a fun party. Definitely a high point on which to end the season!
