Dauntsey Park with 3 homebreds
Dauntsey Park Horse Trials last week was a busy one, with Ellie riding three livery horses and three of our homebreds, all of whom went well. The courses were great, and educational, requiring bold and clever riding, and the ground was really good. Beanie Sturgis and her team do a fabulous job and it was friendly, efficient event. It’s always one of our favourite ODE’s.
Kalico did yet another double clear at Novice to finish 6th in the 6 year olds. She is a seriously cool potential Junior YR team horse. She’s very very straight and easy and coped really well with us being delayed and only having 5 minutes to warm up for the dressage, still coming out with a really nice little test. She will make such a lovely horse for anyone to go up the grades.
Britannia’s Bijou proved his cool temperament, spending all day on the lorry with two mares – he’s such a good boy! He’s been incredibly busy at Tomlinson Equine stud this season so has missed out on a lot of the exposure that the other young horses get, but he really loves his eventing so we were pleased to be able to let him have a run. He had a great time and finished 4th in the BE100.
Upper Class Brit had another double clear at BE100 to finish 2nd so will step up to Novice at Aston this week, having had a spin round BYEH at Hartpury with Willemina van der Goes-Petter’s Nicolai, who qualified for the BYEH finals.
Ellie gave 4 year old livery horse Silver, belonging to Alice Whiting, a ride round her first ever event in the BE80 to finish a brilliant 2nd. Jumping off this 17hh horse and onto the lovely 14hh jumping pony, Daisy, belonging to working pupil Grace, Ellie then gave her a good experience round the 80 also.
Our other lovely Diarado 5 year old mare, Teke, was fantastic, completing her first BE100 with a double clear with Ellie to win it! She has had a great start, with 3 out of 3 double clear, and she is now ready to move on to a new home.
We are heading back to Aston tomorrow with five horses, excited to see some of them progress up a level!
