Success at Cornbury
What a privilege to have such a wonderful event in our Autumn calendar – Cornbury House Horse Trials, brilliantly run by Musketeer Events, David Howden and their teams of helpers and volunteers. Thank you for providing fabulous courses – up to height and educational – and an International atmosphere for the young horses. What a heroic effort to run just short of 5 full days in very tough conditions!
On a personal level I was thrilled with homebred Upper Class Brit (Daisy) & Ellie who cruised round foot-perfect in one of the early sections in the CCI3*-S on Thursday, making the three very influential combinations look effortless and finishing inside the top 20 amongst top riders. Now it’s time to focus on fitness, dressage and show jumping in the lead-up to Mondial du Lion World Young Horse 7 yo Championships.
Head girl Mimi Jones had her best result to finish her season with the gentle giant Winnie De Fontenel (George) in the CCI3*-S. And fellow Australian rider, Working Pupil, Sophie Bragge had her 2nd qualifying result with Argentinus Roulette (Roo), finishing 10th in a hotly contested CCI2*-S section. She is now excited to have been selected for Mondial du Lion World Young Horse 6 yo Championships.
Pupil, A-level Dauntsey student, Alice Whiting had a super end to her season doing her first ever 2* in the 6yo class, having only done a few Novice runs on her own produced Silver Belle.
Thank you to our sponsors and supporters, and to Jo Hansford Photography & Nic who braved the elements and joined us for the day to capture some special moments.
