Success for the twin homebreds at Aston

We had yet another busy and successful week at Aston Le Walls EC and West Wilts last week.

It was really cool to have our twin homebreds out, both jumping double clears. I was thrilled that Upper Class Brit (Daisy) and Ellie finished 4th in the Novice at Aston – a super prep run before stepping up to the 2* at Burgham.

Upsi Britannia, Daisy’s twin brother, is really starting to grow up, and it seems that with each challenge thrown at him he becomes a little more humble! He did really well to achieve a double clear with Ellie in his first Intermediate.

Britannia’s Olive, owned by Sally Johnson and ridden by Ellie, did a lovely double clear in the Novice after a much improved dressage to finish just outside the top 10. And Diarado’s Daughter (Scarlett), also owned by Sally Johnson, did a beautiful test with Ellie for 28. She just tapped a pole SJ and we decided to save her for Burgham 2* so didn’t run her XC, but I am delighted with both horses’ performance.

Back at Aston the following day Legende P (Leo) was a complete star with an ever-improving dressage score of 32.1, just one rider error pole SJ and a lovely clear XC with Ellie.

Ellie has worked really hard on Pure Trendsetter‘s (Trendy) XC in the last few weeks. Unfortunately this may have been to the detriment of her SJ, with a slightly tense round and 3 tapped rails. However, a good dressage and a lovely clear XC in the Advanced has left the pair feeling much more confident.

The weekend saw us at our local venue, West Wilts. Church Minster Grey(Blue), owned by Working Pupil Liv Sewell, ridden by Ellie did a lovely double clear in the 100 and a great dressage for 29.5 to come 4th. He has now had two places with Ellie and will go on the market soon.

Working Pupil Sophie rode the other Blue (Ballyanihan Lad), owned by Wylder Perrin, in the 100. They did a great double clear to finish 8th. I’m delighted to see Blue getting out and about and enjoying himself.

Project horse Adie (Decorated Admiral) and Ellie went really well with just one green moment XC. He did a nice test for 32.5, a brilliant clear SJ and a good XC, to finish well in his first 100 and only second event. He is really so easy, and will be for sale soon.

We’re now on our way up north to Burgham. It’s going to be an exciting few days for the LFE team with five horses in the 2 & 3*.
