Ellie Fredericks

19 year old Ellie Fredericks had a fantastic 2022 season, competing Lucinda’s Advanced stallion Britannia’s Mail, 7 year old mare Pure Trendsetter, part-owned by Liz Hills and Chris Emmett, and homebred youngsters – 5 year olds, Sports Pony stallion Britannia’s Bijou and Pure Britannia, and 4 year old Upsi Britannia.

Ellie was honoured to be a member of the u21 British Eventing Youth Development Squad for the 2022 season and has been selected for the Howden Way training programme with Pure Trendsetter in 2023.

Ellie and Britannia’s Mail got their eventing season off to a confident start, finishing 10th place in the OIu21 at Cirencester Park followed by a foot-perfect double clear for 8th place in the Advanced at Thoresby. An outing to Badminton followed, with Ellie and Britannia’s Mail enjoying their main arena debut together in the Sport Horse Breeding GB stallion parade. Another highlight of 2022 was achieving 10th place in the 3* at Rockingham around a tough track with only a few fast double-clears, of which theirs was one. The pair continue to go from strength to strength and are aiming towards competing at 4* level in 2023.

Ellie has worked hard to develop Pure Trendsetter, who had never evented prior to coming to us 18 months ago. Ellie has taken her up through the levels with some fantastic results along the way, including a top 10 place at Barbury International CCI-S 3* and 3rd place in the CCI-L 3* at Hartpury International. Being amongst the 12 horses selected for the 7 year old World Championships at Le Lion D’Angers in October was very exciting and testament to Ellie’s hard work and dedication to this horse. It was incredible to watch them compete amongst some of the top riders and talented young horses in a tough competition. Ellie was the youngest rider and to finish 27th in a field of 70 was a wonderful culmination to the season for the pair.

Ellie has been very successful with our young horses. Pure Britannia enjoyed top 10 placings at Tweseldown and Portman BE100 and quickly stepped up to Novice for 6th place at Larkhill followed by 3rd at Barbury and 7th at Little Downham, to finish her season with lovely double clears at Wellington and Cornbury House Internationals. She is turning into a super competition horse.

Sports Pony stallion Britannia’s Bijou, under Ellie’s tutelage, enjoyed a phenomenal debut competition season with placings in every event – both SJ and BE. And after some easy double clears in his first BE80 & 90 competitions, Upsi Britannia and Ellie went to a couple of Nexgen Young Horse Series events where he qualified for the final at Hickstead, only going on to win the Eventing series 4 year old final!

Ellie will be spending her gap year here at Rosegarth, competing throughout the 2023 season as well as bringing on and developing our youngsters as well as her own project horses. She heads off to University in October but thankfully she is not going far, so will still be back to do the horses!

Ellie is actively looking for new rides to run alongside Pure Trendsetter. She is sponsored by Pure Feed, Devoucoux, HUSK, Jo Hansford Photography, Foxy Equestrian and Salute Equestrian.
